Iron Ore

"From the opening of the navigation season early in the spring until the close of the season late in the fall, the ore docks of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company at Escanaba are a busy center of activity. Approximately four million tons of ore are shipped out over local docks and transported by lake carriers to the furnaces at Gary, River Rouge and other lower lake ports."
Views of Escanaba's massive ore docks and related iron ore loading/shipping activities.
